This public artwork is probably the most well known in Melbourne and by some counts the most loved, but it hasn’t always been that way. I suspect that most Melburnians, though, could not name the artist responsible. I am pleased the city embraces commissioned public art, and tolerates non-commissioned art too, a short walk around the city will soon make this very clear.
