Retrospective 2-2001: LAX Theme

The Theme Building at LAX airport was built in 1961 in an architectural style known as Populuxe. It was built as a reminder of the original plan for the airport of a central dome for traffic circulation. It was granted a historic-cultural monument number in 1993.

I first visited Los Angeles, very fleetingly, for two days in 2001 en route to emigrating to Australia. I have since been back a number of times.
