Mount Diogenes

This official name was given to this ‘rock’ by surveyor Robert Hoddle in 1844 in keeping with the Macedonian names of surrounding mountains that were explored by Major Mitchell earlier in 1836. The more common name now, and what everyone knows it by, is Hanging Rock.
