National Arboretum Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.
Bushfires of 2001 & 2003 devastated the areas around Canberra, wiping out most of the Cedar & Pine forests in this part. As a response the ACT government held a competition to establish a National Arboretum for 100 Forests & 100 Gardens to be planted roughly in keeping with the original designs as set out by Walter Burley Griffin way back in the early 1900s.
The site was first planted in 2005 and was officially opened in 2013. The forests will obviously take their time to grow and I will enjoy coming back here to see their progress.
This is one of several stitched panoramas of the area taken from a lookout on Dairy Farmers Hill.
