Lake Burley Griffin, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.
First conceived and designed by Walter Burley Griffin, along with his prize winning design of Canberra as the new capital of Australia, in 1918. The lake was inaugurated in 1964.
11km long by 1.2km wide, it was formed by damming the Molonglo River and is regulated by dams at either end in times of flood or drought.
